- Contact details (name, mailing address, phone number, email);
- Donation history and payment information;
- Communication preferences and consent records;
- Information voluntarily provided through correspondence, event registration, or surveys.
We collect only what is necessary for the purposes above and will not use or share your information for unrelated activities without your explicit consent.
2. Consent
We obtain your informed consent before collecting, using, or disclosing personal information. Consent may be given verbally, in writing, electronically, or through an opt-in mechanism.
You may withdraw your consent at any time, subject to legal or contractual requirements, by contacting the Foundation.
For individuals under the age of 14, the consent of a parent or legal guardian is required.

The Foundation integrates privacy protection into all its operations, systems, and communications. Personal data collection and retention are limited to what is strictly necessary, and privacy settings are configured to the highest standard by default.
4. Retention and Secure Destruction

- Correction: You may request corrections to inaccurate or incomplete data.
- Deletion: You may request deletion of your data, subject to legal obligations.
- Portability: (Effective September 2024) You may request a copy of your data in a structured, portable format.
- Withdraw Consent: You may revoke your consent to data processing at any time.

7. Website and Cookies

8. Donor Bill of Rights
The Montreal Chinese Hospital Foundation upholds the principles of the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) Donor Bill of Rights, ensuring donors have full confidence in the ethical use of their gifts and personal information.

9. Breach Notification
In the event of a privacy breach posing a “risk of serious injury,” the Foundation will:
- Promptly notify the Commission d’accès à l’information (CAI) and affected individuals;
- Provide details of the breach and recommended actions;
- Take immediate corrective measures;
- Maintain a breach register for accountability and compliance purposes.
10. Privacy Impact Assessments (PIAs)
The Foundation conducts Privacy Impact Assessments for new projects, technologies, or processes that involve sensitive information. These assessments help identify and mitigate potential risks, ensuring compliance with Law 25 and industry best practices.
11. Third-Party Service Providers
We may share personal information with trusted service providers who assist us in fulfilling our operations—such as payment processing, event management, or electronic communications.
All third parties are bound by strict confidentiality agreements and may use personal information only for the purposes specified by the Foundation.
We do not sell, trade, or rent personal information to any third party.
12. Cross-Border Transfers
If personal information is transferred outside of Quebec for processing or storage, the Foundation ensures that the receiving jurisdiction provides adequate protection. This is verified through privacy assessments and contractual safeguards.
